    Fred Ferber was an Englewood resident famous for inventing the ballpoint pen. He founded Ferber Corp., Englewood, and worked with the company until 1963 when he sold his shares. He then began conservation work, selling half of his 6,800 acres of timberland which was eventually developed into a state park. 

    He was born in Austria and immigrated to Englewood in 1933. His wife was Hedwig Ferber.
