Whitaker, Ozi William (1830-1911)
Ozi William Whitaker was a Reverend. He attended Middlebury College and the General Theological Seminary. He was ordained in 1863. He served St. John's Church in Nevada before coming to Englewood and serving at St. Paul Episcopal Church. He returned to serve in Nevada afterward and became the Consecrate Missionary Bishop in 1869. He became the Bishop-Coadjutor of the Pennsylvania Diocese in 1886 and maintained the position by himself a year later. He married Julia Chester Sidell.Tags Religion -

Pearson, Edward Lawrence, Sr. (1888-1982)
Edward Lawrence Pearson Sr. was a Reverend. He founded the Galilee United Methodist Church in Englewood. he was also a minister at the A.M.E. Zion church in Orange, New Jersey, for seventy years. He retired in 1972. He married Estelle. He had three children, Edward Lawrence Jr., Etheal, and Neva. -
Quigley, Silverius J. (1880-1960)
Silverius Joseph Quigley was a Reverand. He attended Carmelite Seminary and the Pontifical North American College in Rome. He was ordained in Chicago on July 11, 1903. He served at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church in Englewood from 1909 to 1933. He then served at the St. Anastasia Church. He helped to create a school in both churches. -
Brann, Henry Athanasius (1837-1921)
Henry Athanasius Brand was a Rector and Reverand. His family moved to New Jersey when he was twelve. He graduated from Francis Xavier College. He also attended St. Mary's Seminary and the North American College in Rome in 1860. He was ordained in Rome before returning to New Jersey and being ordained in Newark, New Jersey in 1862. He was a part of the New York diocese by 1870. He was a pastor at St. Mary's, St. Peter's, and St. Agnes churches in New Jersey and New York. He helped begin the construction of the St. Cecilia Church in Englewood and three other churches. He also was a professor, teaching philosophy at Seton Hall from 1862 to 1864. -
Ward, Charles W. (?-1887)
Charles W. Ward was a rector at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in the 1880s. He was married four times. His fourth marriage was to Orpah Van Schaick. He had two children, Charles and Bessie. In February 1887 he tried to kill himself, his wife, and one of his children. He died of an overdose of chlorate in May 1887.Tags Religion -

Hatab, George A. (1918?-2005)
George A. Hatab was a businessman. He was president of the George Hatab Co. He was also a soldier in the Navy during World War II. Hatab was president of the trustees of St. Anthony's Orthodox Church of Englewood, a member of the Northern Valley Regional Board of Education, and a leader of Save Our Neighborhood Schools (SONS).
