    Gustave A. Smalbein was a local business owner. He founded Smalbein's Bakery Products in 1900 in Englewood. Smalbein's was one of the first, if not the first, Jewish bakeries in downtown Englewood. He retired in 1918 but helped his son Paul W. reestablish the Bakery in 1928. He was married to Emma. He had two children, Paul W. and Mrs. D. A. Parlo.

    Calvin Ferdinand Vismale was a Business Administrator. He graduated from N. Y. City College School of Business Administration. He also served in the military from 1946 to 1947. He received a B.B.A. in 1950. He was appointed Agency Director of United Mutual Life Insurance in 1955, the largest black-owned insurance company. He was a member of the NAACP and the National Urban League. Vismale helped bring Martin Luther King Jr. and Babatunde Olatunji to Englewood. He was a member of Galilee Methodist Church. He became one of the first African Americans to be installed as a Chartered Life Underwriter.

    He married a woman named Mary. He had at least three children, Calvin F. Jr., Terri Renee Vismale-Morris, and Tess Marie.

    Bertie Charles Forbes founded Forbes Magazine, a business and finance publication. B.C. Forbes was appointed to the Englewood Board of Education in 1938.

    He married Adelaide Mary Stevenson. He had five sons, Bruce, Malcolm, Duncan, Gordon, and Wallace. After Forbes' death, his son Bruce took over. Bruce died in 1964 and Malcolm then took over. Stevenson "Steve" Forbes Jr. succeded his father Malcolm after his death in 1990.
