John Jay Phelps was a businessman and founder of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad.

Taylor, Jacob (1904?-1964)
Jacob Taylor was a resident of Englewood and owner of Jake Taylor's Store. Taylor was also director of the Retail Tobacco Dealers of America and executive secretary of the Bergen County Newsdealers and Stationers' Association. Taylor was active in sports and was the former high school football team captain. He was a member of the Congregation Ahavath Torah.
He was married to Judith Levine. He had a son Fred, and a daughter Lynn. -

He was the founder of Hoboken's Eagan's School for Business and was the first vice-president of the Merchants & Manufacturers Trust Co.
Eagan was elected as a Democrat to Congress in 1913 and served until 1921. He was elected again in 1923 and served until 1925. -
Kelly, E. Thornton (1891?-?)
Kelly was the Secretary of the New Jersey Association of Motion Pictures and chair of the contact bureau of the Motion Picture Association.
Kelly owned the Englewood Theater and Realty Corp, which owned the Plaza Theater on Van Brunt Street. He also owned the Palisade Theater Corp, which owned the Grant Lee theater at Palisade Junction and Westwood Theater Company, which owned the Westwood Theater.Tags Theater -
Forbes, Bertie Charles (1880-1954)
Bertie Charles Forbes founded Forbes Magazine, a business and finance publication. B.C. Forbes was appointed to the Englewood Board of Education in 1938.
He married Adelaide Mary Stevenson. He had five sons, Bruce, Malcolm, Duncan, Gordon, and Wallace. After Forbes' death, his son Bruce took over. Bruce died in 1964 and Malcolm then took over. Stevenson "Steve" Forbes Jr. succeded his father Malcolm after his death in 1990.
